Well i bort a thermaltake toughpower 750W power supply today.

Put it in and connected it all up and it ran fine for 5-10mins.Then the pc turned itself off and would turn back on but only load up to the motherboard screen then turns off again.
I then left it for 10 mins turned it back on and it loaded up got to the desktop then it shut down again.

I then disconnected the pc to connect this one up and when i picked it up and felt the back of the power supply it was hot but it had been running for less than a minute.

Any ideas

ive been told the power supply might be faulty.

Yeah my bro is going to check the power supply tomoz then if it still the same we will put the old one back in.
But im really getting anoyed ive spent £150 trying to get this pc going as before i got new power supply.
With the old one it would crash while playing games and stuff saying display driver stopped working or gave me blue screen saying somthing about dumping files.

So i got new power supply to see if that was the problem now ive got this problem :(

Need to get it in a pc shop but that would cost a lot as well

Is the fan on the cpu changable?

As we think that is over heating.

tests we have done.

1: Ran it normal with side on.
1 results: Crashed cpu over 70 degrees

2: ran with side off.
2 results: Runs fine but about 60 degrees.

3: ran with side off and dest top fan blowing on it.
3 results: Runs at 54 degrees

4: Ran with side of and 2 desk top fans.
4 results: runs fine at temp not known atm.

I think i need more fans bigger cpu fan.
Or better case that will hold more fans.

Now that is very probably a PSU issue, had that before myself.

Yeah bro is going to check the cpu fan in abit. But atm it has been running for over 45 mins with two fans blowing in it and at 50 degrees or lower.

Getting bigger fan can only change one if that dont solve it ill have to get new case.

Ok, you say it's "running", but at what load? is ir just idling?

If so, that's not telling you a thing.

Run a prime 95, or a game, or 3dmark, anything that will get your CPU loaded, and preferably your graphics card needing power.

Has he recently taken the CPU cooler off?

What heatsink are you currently using? The one that came with the processor? The stock fan is good enough, its more than likely not been seated properly as mentioned above, or its got too much/little thermal paste. What thermal paste did you put on it?

Right bro has check it and put it back on and it still 59 and starts rising to over 66.

Could some one find me a decent fan that would work with the motherboard and processor the link for them are in above post. i dont mind how much as long as it isnt more than £50

I had this with a new Corsair 750w. Turned out the 5v rail was dead when it was RMA'd

OMG as soon as i sort the cpu temperature out i get problems with motherboard and graphics card temperature problems.

My graphics card temp is 65degrees while on desktop.
My motherboard temp is 76degrees while on desktop.

I dont think it could be the air getting into the pc as a have two 120mm fans and two 80mm fans.

Any ideas?

Oh and i also got blue screen while playing cod4
