This one is completly puzzling me, I had a 939 Abit AN8 and my floppy didnt work on there, I now have a Abit AA8XE and the floppy drive doesnt work on there, so I take a 100% known working floppy disk and try it and that doesnt work either.

Just keeps saying "please insert floppy", all option are enabled in bios, power is getting to the drives, the wierd thing is they both have card readers on which plug via usb, the card readers work fine, just doesnt read floppys, any ideas?

Is the light permanatly on? If so then you have the lead the wrong way round.

Have you tried swapping the cable because for it to happen on two different boards when you have used a known working drive suggests that could be an issue.

Light is always on, how can the lead be the wrong way round as it has notchs on it or do you mean the floopy end should be in the mobo end?

Light is always on means you have connected it up wrongly. I know it has notches or at least most do but you can still get it wrong, the motherboard end should be impossible to get wrong but you need the end with the twist(about 3 wires of the cable are twisted) into the floppy drive itself. If the light stays on then turn it the other way round and you should find it works fine. :)

Well one of the drives works by turning the cable round, and typically I insert the disc I want to access and all the files on there are dead, I try an open the word file and it says disc cant be accessed :(
