Stupid PSU question...

Guys, about to buy a 850w PSU, but before I do, I have a silly question....

I assume that allthough it is rated for 850w, it will only use what power my system needs, or should I get something a little lower powered?

I plan to run 2 8800GTS cards in SLi.

It'll only consume the power it needs.

Whether you actually need 850 Watts is questionable though, I'd just go with a Corsair HX 620W if I were you.

It will only take from the mains what your PC needs + roughly 20% (wasted in heat).

it will only draw what it will need ,and i tiny bit more due to parts not being 100% efficient.

what PSU are you planning to buy by the way? just remember a good psu rated with a lower power output can be better then some poor ones with higher power output ratings.

Yeah, thanks for the advice. I was considering the Corsair but some reviews say it can be a little noisy and I don't want to risk it.

I have settled for a Zalman 850-HP. Every review I have read says that it really is silent.
