Ok so to everyone else this is going to seem like a 'well derrr' question but i honestly dont know. Im planning on getting a closed loop cooler, the corsair h100i to be exact and what im wanting to know is if you put the fans on the radiator the way it is in the picture http://www.corsair.com/us/media/cat...d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/h/1/h100i_motherboard.png is it being used as an intake? And if i wish to use the roof as an exsaust do i put the fans above the rad? Just wanted to know before i order any fans for my build as i was thinking of getting red led ones to put on the roof to light down into the case but if i've to put the fans on top of the rad as i wish to use the roof for exsaust not intake red led fans would be pointless.

Hope i got what i was trying to ask across lol

Usually you use fans in a push configuration, where they a inside the case and pushing air through the rad. You can use them to pull air through the rad, and even mount fans externally and the rad inside the case, but you will probably notice higher temps

case > fans > rad > outside (push)

case > rad > fans > outside (pull)

case > fans > rad > fans > outside (push/pull)

So usually, the fans are on the inside of the rad, if that makes sense

Push is usually more efficient. Note the direction of the fan when installing, they usually have an arrow which indicates which way they blow ;)

all fans I've seen are open on the front/intake side of fan and have the frame holding the fan motor on the back/exhaust side of fan.
