Stupid question about FTP

I have some freespace from my ISP so I wanted to upload some images that I could link to in a forum.

So basically I used SmartFTP to upload them all, so far so good, but when I try and access one it says that I'm not authorised.

I don't know where to go next?

Have you set permissions? (chmod)

Chmod = right clicking the file(s) and clicking chmod & making sure atleast read is ticked by the way

Okay thanks I did that and it seems to work now.

What confused me is on my old ISP I didn't need to do this, they just worked!
