Hi i have 2x 560ti

does 2gb + 2gb =- 4gb when doing SLI?

i only ask because i thought that it didnt but when i look at this

You have 4gb correct, but in sli the data loaded in the VRAM is the same on both cards iirc. Hence why ppl consider it as having only 2gb of usable memory.
 
Indeed. Adding it up is cheating :D

So basically ATI should have gotten a slap on the wrist for selling the 5970 as a 2gb card. I mean sure, it *has* 2gb on it, but you can only use half in CrossfireX.

IIRC both cards need to load the same textures, kind of like mirrored, and that's why the memory doesn't all add up into one amount.

Wait, what?

It's been the case with all cards (AMD/ATI/Nvidia) since I remember, the card physically has 2GB memory so that's what they market it as.

Do you think GeForce GTX 590 is any different in that regards?
