Thinking about getting one of these as a few jobs require it.

One question I have. If I need to measure an internal window frame and I put the unit against the wall. Will the length of the unit be added to the measurement?

They typically will allow you to select which 'edge' of the device to measure from.

Front-Edge will measure from the laserpoint forwards, back-edge will include the length of the device in the overall measurement.

Similar to how a traditional tape measure will have its length engraved on the reverse to be included in the overall measurement.

I thought that would be the case. Thanks. I hate tape measures. Especially getting the measure level

Going to be ordering window shutters so it's quite a precise job

Yeah that's pretty poor. Over it's maximum 16m distance it could be out by nearly a centimeter.

I've got a similar priced one from Amazon that's +/-1.5mm over 40 meters.

They have different settings as to where they measure from. It's worth double checking your first few measurements though as the cheap ones aren't always that accurate and need calibrating. Found that out when I used a £20 jobby to measure everything up, got b&q to cut the wood and then found out all the measurement were 1cm out as the laser was useless.
