Stupid Question perhaps RE: Xbox/360 cable compatability

I happened to be looking at some Xbox360 VGA cables as I was putting them on the shelves at my workplace, and noticed the connector on the back looked identical to the original Xbox connector.

My question is simply whether an Xbox360 VGA etc cable would actually work with a Xbox original, or whether the actual pin layout of the cables is perhaps different, because it'd be nice if I could get my Xbox connected up to something slightly nicer than the tiny tv its on now

i thought the plug that goes into the xbox it self was a totaly different shape.

the 360 one has angles on it and is about half the size.

the old xbox one looks more like a large hdmi lead, while the new one is like this,
