Stupid Question - XMP with AM5

Not ideal I know, but I assume there's no reason some G.skill DDR-5 6400 CL32 wouldn't work fine in most x870 or x870E motherboards?

I am aware it might need to be run at 6000Mhz.

Most (all?) boards have XMP kits on their QVL, so EXPO is not required.

Stick to 6000CL30 and overclock from there, not all processors can do 6400 or even 6200 MT/s.

6000mhz is optimal for AM5 as the CPU memory ratio is 1:1 anything above that changes it to 2:1 make Ng it slightly slower until you reach 7200mhz

No I mean, I already have this RAM from an intel system and I can cannibalise it and save myself £130.

It'll probably run at 6000 CL30 if it's 6400 CL32

It should be fine.

Even with last gen AM5 chips people were running XMP without issue, compatibility has improved.

EXPO is an odd duck to me, but was due to early issues with voltage/timings for speeds vs Intel on XMP.

Oh right, I missed that. yeah just use the RAM and it should work. No point in spending money on different RAM.

You should be able to apply the XMP profile timings and then manually tighten the timings a little to improve performance if you're interested in that.
