I heard a lot of strange things about dual chan ram when ti first arrived, a lot of people said it was a tiny boost in performance and not worth worrying about. Its a long time on now and I was wondering what they are like. I have an amd 64 3000 (at 2.43ghz) and I have a single strip of Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2PT Platinum CAS2, but atm I have another strip on its way to me, and I was wondering if these can be run dual chan or must they be in the matched pair kits provided?

Well, if you got the same stick again, chances are it will be fine. Sometimes however, memory controllers are picky and do not like unmatched pairs. TBH, it's probably 75:25 in favour of working. You'll have to memtest (www.memtest.org) each stick individually for a couple of hours first, then try them together in dual channel.

If they are the same versions you will prob get away with it. When i swapped my unmatched pair of 1GB XMS3200C2PT in to my first dual channel board it didn't work. However they were diff versions so it was prob to be expected.
