Hi i don't really know much about dual core/quad core at the moment apart from its like having two processors at once.
What i want to know is, if i get a dual core prcessor runing at 2.4gig does it mean it will run at 4.8gig? and a processor runing at 1.8gig will it really be 3.6gig?
Sorry if this is a stupid question but i just wanted to clear something up.

My system is
AMD 64 4000 (single core) runing at 3.0gig
2Gig DDR Ram
ATI X1900XTX
Motherboard= Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS

I am looking to spend just over £500 and would be planing on geting the following setup

Asus Commando Intel 965 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB)
And would use my X1900XTX in that setup.

What do you think i should do? get that setup or can you recommend something better for that price?. Or should i just wait for a bit?

Thanks for that.

I will mostley be using it for games, i just wanted somthing with more power while i have the monney.
As for the graphics card I was planning on upgrading it later on as my X1900XTX is fine for now. I want to see what ATI will be bringing out next and if nvidia will also bring anything else out after the 8800.
