just wanted to get some opinions...

shall I get a second 88GTX (250E) + 780sli(230E) = 430E
or
2x 4850(2x155E) + X38(130E) = 440E

Two 4850s will outperform two 8800GTXs and you won't be stuck with a rather mediocre Nvidia motherboard.

get x38 which is nearly the same as x48 u can actauly flash x38 to x48 so x38 and one 4870

upgrade to a second one later ;)

well... it is known that nvidia scales better...

on the other hand I thought I should move forward and not back( that is y I considered ATI)

shall I consider a third path..? to just get a single 4870?
(still reading anandtech's article, havent reach the fps section yet)

Yep Crossfire tends to have better scaling, the problem before is that people would see 2 Nvidia cards being faster in SLI and assuming they scaled better, where's the actual reason the SLI set up was faster was because a single Nvidia card was faster than a single ATI card.

Ok, well my opinion is buy the best single card you can afford and leave multicard set-ups to the ePeenies and professional FPS gamers! :p

Flog the 8800GTX for as good price as possible and replace it with a HD4870.

Of course if you play at a resolution of 1024x768 this whole thread is moot! :D
