hey guys this is probs a stupid question but i need to know.
i have w7 home premium and want to run 2 monitors currently i have my pc plugged into my telly via hdmi at 1920x1080 res. if i also plus a vga/dvi monitor into my gfx card can i clone to my other screen at a diff res?

I just tried this with my laptop and external monitor. I right clicked on the desktop, went to graphic properties and selected operating mode Intel Dual Display Clone. My external monitor has a different resolution to my laptop but the same content was displayed on both, so my guess is it should work.

Rgds

I remember a while back you couldnt run 2 screens from the same graphics card, you may be able to now, if not then see if your pc has 2 pci-e slots, if so buy a cheap gfx for the screen thats going to run your internet.

EDIT: Sorry misread, you have HDMI, you should be able to right click on the desktop and go into your gfx settings and clone.extend your screen as above.

Cheers,

James.

All modern GPUs can run dual monitors. Recent AMD ones can run three.

So yup, cloning will work. You can also try extended desktop as well, so you can multitask between two different programs :).
