Stupid sodding car

On my way to meet a mate at work, change into 3rd and put my foot back on the throttle and it dropped straight to the floor.

who on earth decided to make the throttle rod out of the crappiest material known to man. Turns out it snapped and I had to ghetto the throttle open to drive a mile and a half home.

All good fun though, second time I've had to ghetto it like this, first time the rod decided to pop out the back of the throttle.

Yea, luckily I carry a pair of shoelaces and a couple of basic tools in the boot for such occasions.

Never seen anything like this happen to a M2 Golf. Had loads of M2 GTI,s back in the day.

I had a Mk2 Golf GTI where the throttle cable used to ping out of the pedal all the time when you floored it. Rubber bush replaced and it never happened again.

Mine pinged out sometime last summer, didnt have a screwdriver to remove the cover so tied the throttle open with my shoe lace. Was getting funny looks sitting at traffic lights with it ticking over at about 4500rpm especially with my comically loud 3" tailipipe.

This time it actually snapped in two though.

New cable in and fitted and a grand total of £11.76
