Stupid tailgate

Got home about 1.30am last night from a gig, unloading my gear, tired. Tailgate wasn't fully up, only just over halfway. I was walking fast from the side of the car around to the back and bashed my head straight into the very corner of the tailgate. Brought me to my knees it was such a whack. Like being hit by Mike Tyson with something sharp on his fist. Any harder I'd probably be unconscious. Blood pouring and kitchen roll soaking it up. Eventually it slowed down. Took some paracetamol to reduce the headache. Today I went to A&E and the nurse cleaned it up and put medicinal glue on the wound to close the cut after she'd aggravated the wound to help close it. Fortunately it's just under my hairline above the forehead so nothing visible. Can't wash my hair or get it wet for a week she said or the glue might go soft.

Moral of story: make sure the tailgate is fully up.:(

I did similar with the top corner or my door once. I leaned in to put the seatbelt on one of my kids in the back and whacked my head on the corner. I nearly knocked myself out and had a big bruise and cut on my forehead for a couple of weeks.

Another one was when closing the boot hatch I managed to slam it on my thumb. I'm sure it must have broken it judging by the pain, huge swelling and inability to move it for a few days.

Didn't bother with getting them looked at. Not really much that can be done other than letting the body heal itself. The body is a wonderful thing when you look at it like that :)

I did something similar to my old mondeo estates bootlid, I had my hands full and asked someone to close it, but also chose that moment to remember something I needed and lean forward striking the edge of the lid at the perfect moment to receive maximum force from the closure, I've still got a scar on my forehead!

Grrrr don't get me started on Boots. I paid to have the motorised boot option on the Avant. Pretty cool and all that jazz, but now its not working properly, It doesn't open fully and seems to close of its own accord, I was loading some bags of cement in the other day and it decided to close on my back grrrr. Looks like one of the struts is knackered and once its starts to drop with the weight of the tailgate, the motorised bit kicks and it 'accelerates' the closure.

Damn german crap.

Ouch!

Had this a few times as with the Trophy/V6 spoiler the boot on my Clio doesn't open very wide, but not hit it *that* hard.

Also was changing an engine with someone and they smacked the engine crane... went straight down to the ground.

Lol, yeah, I hate having unwashed greasy hair.

I wasn't really going to bother but was persuaded to. A&E told me they always recommend any head injuries to be checked and it's probably better I did get it cleaned up and glued. I'm glad it wasn't worthy of stitches though.

Done this many times but never injured myself. Oh and use some dry shampoo if you can't get it wet :)

Never heard of dry shampoo but good idea, I'll get some. Thing is, I only really feel refreshed in a shower after dunking my head in the water, so roll on a week from now.

I'm always not fully-opening my boot, and whacking my head on it. I think I'm retarded.

I know that pain. Though I swear the Civic's boot is trolling me by never opening fully unless you push it all the way up. Every time I forget it's a hard smack to the head and gratuitous obscenities.

I think the hydraulic on mine is not what it used to be as it never seems to fully open by itself. I always have to manually push it the rest of the way up.

oh lord done this a good few times! door corners are the worst..... pointy bar stewards!!!

also been looking at something in the boot, leaving over and looking it, then closed the roof on my head....forgetting to move my whole body out of the way xD i blame tiredness for that one ;) that journey home on a monday after a weekend of LAN is exhausting xD
