Hi

I am trying to get my 4870 512MB up and running, but whenever I install the Catalyst drivers my monitor just goes to black screen and then power saving mode as if it's loosing the signal. I also get an occurence when I reboot my system I get a black screen after the Windows XP loading screen aswell, but my computer will boot in safe mode and the card will work when there are no drivers installed. I have tried manually installing the drivers this time, so I go into the Device management screen and update the drivers from the ATI folder, it installs the drivers there and then and next thing I know is I get a black screen, so I reboot the system and it loads into Windows as if no drivers are installed for the card and a popup comes up asking me to install them.

I'm pulling my hair out trying to get this damn thing to work and I've tried everything and several different versions of the Catalyst drivers with the same thing happening, yet my 3850 256MB seems to work perfectly fine when I install the drivers for that with no problems or black screen issues.

Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?

Thanks for your help.

Have you 'really' got rid of any old graphics drivers on your system. I have used driversweeper for the first time and it seemed to help. However, some people have mixed feelings about it.

*Just a thought, is your PSU up to scratch?
