Hi everyone. really need some help. i have got sky broadband max. the exchange im connected to has their llu kit in it. i am less than 2km away and am only getting 1mb on an up to 20mb package.

tried the usual (rebooted router, connected to master and test socket) to no avail.

rang sky and they said my line can get 4.5mb but s someone else had joined my local loop i am now down to 1mb

any suggestions?

Leave sky?

Someone else joined your local loop? lol, riigghhtt, think they are bulling you there

post up your line stats so we can see?

Hi,

Unfortunately only just joined them a couple of months ago

stats below

ADSL Link DownstreamUpstream
Connection Speed 1493 kbps 605 kbps
Line Attenuation 68.0 db 40.8 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 10.3 db

I'm not being unrealistic here. im not expecting 20 meg here. but lagging on COD on ps3 is annoying.

That line attenuation seems pretty high, rough calculations say that your around 5km from the exchange.. See here, if you say you are around 2k (even though actual line distance could be more), try the test socket behind the master socket to see if it lowers your line attenuation?

I would say that them speeds you are getting, are about right, maybe you could be getting around 2.0 - 2.5mb but I wouldnt expect more than that with a 68db downstream attenuation. If it makes no difference, maybe try to get them to re-train the line?

As stated your atten is high either due to poor wiring/ connects enroute to the exchange or your internal house wiring is poor. Connect direct to your master socket by removing the faceplate and check attenuation
