I have been asked to buy a "study" laptop, what laptops would you recommend/think as being study. The laptop will be carried around a lot.
Thanks guys :)

Anything 12"+ (less than 15") and faster than a single core atom, T3xxx+ and 2Gb+ of RAM should see them right

EDIT: my bad, I read it as study, look at the Panasonic Toughbooks

Depends on your definition of 'sturdy', but in my opinion there is pretty much only one manufacturer catering for that, and it's Panasonic.

Their toughbooks are pretty much unrivalled, but they come at a pretty hefty cost too. A laptop that'll put up with abuse and spills starts at £1K, ones that will take use under a sprinkler and being run over by a car start from £1600.

How much punishment are you expecting the laptop to need to take?

Dell make a couple of ruggedised latitude's, good machines I hear and not as much of a premium as the toughbooks. Might be worth a look.

Other than that you could look at Thinkpads, which are solidly made still but not like they used to be in my opinion. Or a Apple unibody (sorry, yes it's a mac but the build quality is top rate, I doubt there's a sturdier mass market machine available today...)
