Stutter issues on new build 7800x3d - X670E-Plus

I’ve logged a ticket with ocuk support, will give them a call tomorrow.

Nothing running in windows, it doesn’t even make it to windows half the time after making a change.

Yeah I get to the windows log in screen and it plays the intro tune but really laggy, sometimes it will prompt you to enter a password and other times it just shows the windows background.

been doing some more playing around and if I f10 to save changes, the bios attempts to reboot the machine, if I hold the power button before it posts to force a shutdown then next time it works fine. I can tell if its work or not as the screen that prompts you to press f12 or delete for the bios disappears quickly, but when its going to fail it stays on that screen for a few seconds.

Can anyone recommend a x670e board? I’ve started the return for my Asus tuf.

After more playing around it’s if I enter the bios at all during boot, even if I make no changes and then F10, it fails the next boot. I don’t need to unplug the power now, I just have to do a full shutdown.

I’ve noticed that the issue was with the motherboard, but to anyone having similar issues, and out of warranty, try to connect the mouse to another USB port.
Back on AM4, I had an intermittent issue of the mouse or anything else was connected to a certain USB port at the back.
Never got the root of the issue, but avoiding it was a workaround.

Hi All,

Bit of a strange issue I'm having has anyone experienced this?

I did a clean build of windows 11 pro

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo EXPO 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit - B
Asus TUF Gaming X670E-Plus

Sometimes when booting up the machine will hang on the Asus Tuf screen and the status wheel will stop, after 30-60 seconds the machine boots into windows but the mouse movement stutters and even trying to watch a YouTube video it stutters as well.

I have updated the bios to the latest version and tried default memory profile, EXPO 1 & EXPO 2, I'm currently running Buildzoid's memory timings.

When I get this issue the only way to fix it is to shut down the PC unplug the power cable and boot up again, after doing this the PC runs fine until it happens again in the future and I have to unplug again.

Not sure what is going on, I've run memtest86 and this passed....

Is it worth trying to flashback to an earlier build of the bios?
I seem to be having a similar issue you describe with the 7800x3d but i have a MAG TOMHAWK x670e. Windows boots but the lag and stuttering is considerably more severe for me to the point the PC will force a self reboot then all is fine. Your issue was fixed with a different motherboard ?

Check your processor voltages and frequencies.

The behavior you are describing mirrors that of Infinity Fabric interconnect data corruption. It specifically causes mouse lag/stutter!

Look to see if any errors are being reported in the Windows log.

Yeah OCUK replicated the fault and provided a refund on the RMA as they had no stock of the board at the time.

New motherboard completely fixed the issue.
