stuttering in bf3

I've only bought bf3 recently and have noticed a lot of stuttering. I thought it was my 660 ti but then came across the Render.PerfOverlayVisible command which shows it's my 2500k causing the lag. Game is running on ultra with no AA and vsync disabled. Anyone else have this issue?

first of all lower detail settings to med and see if it does it. If your 2500k is overclocked it should not be the bottleneck.

Likely problems are out of date sound drivers (causing high DPC latency) or such things as virus scanners running in the background causing disk thrashing. Opening up resource monitor and checking for disk usage and CPU usage whilst playing would be prudent.

Lower details does help, as does turning on vsync or capping the fps but still don't understand why the cpu is stuttering so much. I have pretty much no extra programs running so that couldn't be the cause.

It usually happens for the first few seconds after spawning, or if I turn direction, as if the textures are loading, causing spikes.

Try entering the following commands into the user.cfg file in your bf3 directory.

Renderdevice.forcerenderaheadlimit 0
renderdevice.triplebufferingenable 0

Had a similair issue a while back and using the above commands fixed it.

I find this sometimes happens due to something as simple as an advert on a webpage chewing up cpu time. Do you have everything else closed when playing?

As the game starts to load up and bf3 icon appears along your bar at the bottom, completely exit Origin as sometimes, at least on my system it starts to get a memory leak and uses up all of my memory, and then the stutters begin.

I have exactly the same problem with my i7 920 and 2 7970's.

I haven't got to the bottom of the issue yet, i've tried everything to eradicate it.

Nothing is getting too hot either.

im getting it occasiaonly as well

AMD X6 1075t @4.0ghz with SLI 570's

16GB RAM as well.

No heat problems everything well under 50

I used to get this all the time however I set renderahead at 2 in the nvidia control panel and never had the problem since, I have a 2500k at 4.2 and a gtx 670, but I had the same problem on a 560 ti 448 core an this always sorted it.

Worth a try :-)
