Hey,

I'm getting bad stuttering in some games even when I tone down the graphics. It makes games like crysis unplayable.

Spec:
Phenom ii x3 @ 3.48
4870 512
2gb kingston ddr 3 1600
2tb hitachi 7200
Win 7 x64

I always defrag with mydefrag. So its fine. I was wondering if it would make any difference moving the paging file to a different partition and setting it manually?

Or

Upgrade to 4gb

Thanks

if offline play

i would check the drive make sure its healthy i have had to return a hitatchi drive three times in as many weeks basically useless drives (my op)

mem might make a bit of difference but not too much.

what res you playing at and settings

is your overclock set up right ? if you dont set them up right you can get lags hangs and the like.

check temps on graphics card and cpu

if online check ping connection.

I'm getting like 40 - 50 fps though. So I thought it might have to do with caching to the hard disk?

Edit: Single player. I'm playing it on mainstream. I get a good fps on gamer settings too but the same problem. Resolution 1680 by 1050.

So the hard drive might be a problem? The cpu doesn't go above 54 on full load and the gpu temps seem fine. Metro 2033 is fine.

Yea it deffo feels more like lagging. Thanks for your replies.

Is this online or offline gameplay?

If its online only does crysis use punkbuster by any chance? I'm geting a simlar problem in the cod games online as well you see and I can't work out why.

Leave your page file alone & upgrade to 4gb of ram & try fitting an aftermarket cooler to your GFX card & clocking it.
What results are others getting with that GFX card as 512 mem these days ain't much.
Reducing your Rez will make a heap of difference with what else I've written.

Hey thanks for your reply mate. Ok I'll leave my paging file alone. Another stick of the ram I use is around £50.

So would I be better getting that or selling my 4870 and using the money towards a new 1 gig card? I can't afford both atm.

I don't really want to lower the resolution too much as its my native res and it starts to get very blurry.

Andy

Yeah I think it might be guys. I think its mostly when new textures are loading in.

Thanks all for your replies :)
