Stuttering in GRID - 4870X2

ok at 45% fan it started stuttering again but the core was only showing as 63 degrees which isn't really that hot, just to rule out the over heating theory I upped the fan to 75% (too loud for my liking) but anyway went back in to test Grid again this time it has run fine!. Download riva tuner and change you fan speed to 75% and play Grid and see what happens. I am also interested to see if this cures your stuttering too.

hi

Ok will do. I was monitoring the temp and it was hitting 90c on stock but when I upped to 8xmsaa it didn't really effect the temp from what I could see.

Will riva and let you know

yeah that also had a hardware monitoring program! I used Riva Tuner to change fan to 75% but I used cupid Hardware monitor to see temps. I would say just change the fan speed to 75% and just see if it still stutters, that way whatever the temps show its irrelevant as we will know it was overheating that's causing the stuttering.

Ok , how do I do this in RivaTuner ? Everytime I go into Low Level System Tweaks , and click on FAN , Enable Fan Control i get prompted to Reboot or Detect Now , both which seem to do nothing !

Press detect now! try and tick the box that says " enable low level fan control" set the slider to 75% click apply (you will hear if it works trust me) then do some testing.

I can only click Detect Now *after* I tick the enable low level fan control box and it remains greyed out after it finishes detecting ..

i get this with my 8800gt, 8gb ram, raptor raid, q6600, vista64 (not played grid in xp64 yet)

happens say once every 10 races or so..

Hey Mr.Griffin

Are you still testing the fan speeds ? Any luck ?

I havent had a chance to do anything yet but plan to over the weekend ....

Let me know if poss,
Cheers

yeah I don't think its an overheating problem:D tho these cards do run hot so I have set the fan on 45% all the time to keep it nice and cool. I think its do to with ccc settings I had changed just one silly setting that to be honest should make no difference:o. I have to set them all set in a specific order to get it to run sweet. I find the ccc so finicky about things:confused:.
