Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the correct section so apologies if it is and feel free to move it.

Right, i play COD4 on everything high 1024 / 768 (75mhz) 4xaa.

Very occasionally i get a lock up like for about 0.5sec its really really really quick, the sound jutters i jutter a bit then its gone, it does this id say every 10-15 minutes.

The cores are at a fine temp although i am yet to check the graphics temp under load.

Feel free to throw "ANY" suggestions my way, although its minor its annoying

Havent changed any setting since i last played cod4 but now i get http://i9.tinypic.com/85w0ow9.jpg :S

Cheers

Check you have the latest drivers, make sure you have no programs running in the background, defrag your hard drive, keep eye on temps.
I have a GT too and it doesn't skip, though runs too warm for my liking - swapping out the cooler on it this weekend for an S1.

ok, i do have a few programs running but i shouldnt think that could cause skipping.

Ill try a defrag see what that brings up, could the card be throttling due to the temp its at?

Cheers for the feedback :)

Nah, I had mine running at 93'C and it worked fine.
Got a 12cm fan on it now and it reaches about 60'C. However, I was never happy with the high temps and didnt game for long because of it. How long are you playing for before it reaches 73'C? And if you continue playing, does it get hotter?

I cranked the fan up on the graphics card and to be fair it does seem to run better, i think i got 1 stutter and that was about it.

Any ideas what would be a fair speed to crank the fan upto (Dont want to burn it out)

if speedfan is running and monitoring harddrive temps, then it is possible that this is causing the problem, the way the monitoring works causes some system to stutter, like mine, all you need to do is add " /NOSMARTSCAN" to the end of the target line on the shortcut to speedfan and it should no longer be a problem if it is speedfan causing the problem.

you will have to restart your computer before the stuttering stops, and then in speedfan you should notice that the harddrive temps no longer show, give this a whirl and tell me of your stuttering stops :)

Just RMA it, Why go thought the hassle of messing with fan speeds ect when it should work out of the box.

RMA what? the graphics card? i have very little doubt to believe that this stutter is a graphics card problem. yes it could well be, but it sounds exactly like what i got with speedfan monitoring harddrive temps. and plus adding one word on to the shortcut a 30second job (including the restart) rather then a weeks wait for an RMA :/

Thanks for the replies.

I really doubt its the graphics card, been playing NFS:PS for a good few hours on high without any issues. I dont think its speed fan because it was stuttering before i started using that.

Ive been told to try a few things:

"try disbling disabling hardware sound acceleration."
"Possibly AA causing it"

*Edit, i was using rivatuner all the time not speed fan and ive tried the suggestions in this post, still the stutter*

Thanks again
