Stuttgart player booked for walking ball into goal...! But no leniency given for comedy.

I had no idea that scoring too slowly was a bookable offence :D.

Unsporting behaviour has been cited, but it's the Stuttgart team that chose to give up rather chase him down, and wasn't it a valid tactic to buy his team some more rest before the restart? :p

Rescind the yellow I say. The Bremen player getting 'all up in his face' should be the one booked for trying to start a fight.

A rare chance for a footballer to do the rare celebrate before scoring that you see a lot in NFL.

A chance for personal expression, that could also be said to be wasting game time.

Possibly taunting an opponent with the look back at the keeper?

Not sure if warrants a yellow, it's such a rare occurrence to get a walk in like that, likely could be excused with a warning.

You mean me or Robbie Fowler? I've edited my post if it's against the rules.

Seen quoted posts get edited so maybe you should delete yours too. Unless you're trying to get people banned?

I meant it wouldn’t be worth the player getting a ban. Calm down fella :D

Yeah that is a weird yellow, he did nothing wrong. Entirely on the defenders and goalkeeper for just stopping.

Yeah - he did nothing wrong! Some of the goal celebrations nowadays are way over the top, are they going to start booking them?

fair enough in my view.

..just score the goal, swanning about waiting for a Bremen player to chase you down.

Crazy to get a yellow for that. It's no different to a goalie standing with the ball at his feet and then picking it up when an opposing player gets near him.

Ridiculous. As noted above, this is no different from any other 'in play' time-wasting that goes on. It's arguably less dodgy than the 'corner flag' routine you see where players are physically obstructing their opponent whilst shielding the ball.

Completely agree. The guy was being a ***** and there are enough of them in football already without encouraging it. Thats not been done to entertain the crowd, its just a player being a dick.

Refs aren’t known for having a laugh, wasn’t it Gazza who got booked for showing the ref a yellow card after he dropped it?

Or you know, wasting time like literally everyone does in every single game.

Grow up.

The difference is nuanced. Its just my opinion that i can understand why the ref has booked him
It really isn't though. He hardly took the **** and didn't even celebrate. All he did was run down a few second because the Werder players were stood there like statues. He wouldn't get a card if he spent 10 times longer celebrating the goal than he did walking it into the net. It's no different to the endless amounts of time wasting that goes on in every game. Players walking off the pitch as slowly as possible, taking the longest route they can when they get subbed is infinitely worse sportsmanship than what went on here.

The Werder player running the length of the pitch to get in his face deserves a red if this deserves a yellow.

Its not about the wasting of time, its about attitudes
