Ferrite rings made a massive difference to the annoying hum / interference on my old Speedlink Medusas (which had the worst shielded headphone amp in the world).

Could you please explain what a ferrite ring actually is... and how it works. A trust link showing me an ebay listing with the right size etc would be nice and an image of it in demonstration if possible please.

Disable the line-in / microphone.

Turn off any nearby AC induction motors as they generate enormous amounts of EMI.

I've disabled the line in, other recording outputs, and other inputs that are not my default equipment (e.g monitor jacks and hdmi audio).

How do I turn of the motors nad what are they?

Ventilation fans maybe? I hear loud electronic pops whenever the one here turns on/off.

It's probably coming from inside the case though.
Try a different sound card or same sound card in a different system to rule things out.
