A little advice please. Desperately need a new phone my Touch Diamond is well knackered.

I prefer to send my texts using the letter recogniser i.e. by writing with a stylus.

Mainly cos I can't text for toffee using buttons and takes me ages . Also I find touch screens far too sensitive for my big fingers.

Any advice on a suitable smartphone or do I have bite the bullet and get a touchscreen with swype and learn how to use it ?

Cheers

DAGi Smartphone Slim Line Capacitive Stylus
Might work for you just seen them 1 min ago looking for accessories for my new desire

You can get the Official HTC stylus
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=200225

Description
A capacitive screen stylus pen is designed specifically for HTC devices with capacitive screen.
It's perfect for enterprise apllications which require signature capture.

This stylus is compatible with teh following HTC models:
- HTC HD2
- HTC Hero
- HTC Dream
- HTC Magic
- HTC Desire
- HTC Legend
- HTC HD mini
- HTC Wildfire

But has any these mobile phones got letter recogniser ?? (I don't know :o)

Why does that have what looks like a hook at the end? :p

Either way as capacitive screens are much less accurate writing will probably be a bit of a pain.

There some apps for this on appbrain

http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.inkmarksoftware.mobilewrite_trial

MobileWrite is a handwriting recognition input method. This is the 4 day trial version.
Text is entered by handwriting either printed or Graffiti letters, instead of typing on the keyboard.
Using a stylus improves the speed and accuracy.
All keyboard letters and keyboard symbols are supported.

Latest version: 3.1 (for all Android versions)

i have gigantic sausage fingers and have very few problems typing on the default portrait keyboard on the htc desire. even using my mega-thumb!

i also had no issues typing on my iphone 3g.

i find the htc hero keyboard to be slightly fiddly, but still useable with my giant shovelhands

Good to hear that , I haven't really tried any of the big screen phones as of yet but will see what works best for me , cheers for the help :D

I'd recommend looking into swype (check out the demo's on youtube). It's FFF to quote a friend (fat finger friendly) and works well any android handset. That said, android is modular in the sense that if you don't like the keyboard then you can just replace it with another by downloading an app.

I've tried the official stylus with the Desire and its a hit and miss affair. I wouldn't bother even if you were wearing gloves.
