Hi all. I am looking to replace my ISPs Zyxel 3301 before it completely melts itself. It would be nice to own my own one finally too instead of sticking with the general ISP garbage.
Most of my online reearch keeps leading me back to the Flint 2. I am comfortable to learn how to configure it but am a little hesitant to pull the trigger on it with its current price being so much higher than what I am seeing it being historically.

Are there other options I should consider? I dont care about wifi 7. My house is relatively small. My internet is a 1gb up/down plan. Main pc is wired and does have a 2,5gb port. The rest of the family are all on older iphones/ipads. A decent speed USB port to share an external drive over Samba is a plus but not a requirement.
As with most things in the world right now, if there are better options for less money they would be better!

The Flint 2 is a great router but it's not £150 of router. That's used enterprise gear territory. Definitely don't overpay for one.

Thanks, I will hold out for a flint 2 then!
Where is the best place to pick them up? The official site of amazon? I dont know if they are fake or not but there are some suspect listings on eBay.

If you want piece of mind for easy returns, yes but still wait. Seen it for £120 on Amazon before.

If you are confident then look here: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/gl...ce-router-8-stream-wi-fi-6-technology-4901545

Example from some weeks ago, happens every month or so. Around £71 with vouchers. Make a hotukdeals account and set up an alert for "Flint 2" "GL-MT6000" etc.

Just got one for £109 from UK warehouse if thats cheap enough for anyone else to take a punt. It was the link in the comments of the HUKD link above. With this code added: UKJULYSS15

I'm assuming that's with £15 discount? Cheapest I'm seeing right now is £99.85.

I didn't order as not in a rush, will wait for £80 mark. Funnily from £99 it went to £104.

Anyway have you received yours yet?

Yep, arrived 3rd june. Incredibly easy to set up, have kept it on the standard firmware for now. Didnt expect such a noticeable difference from my wired PC tho. An excellent upgrade ignoring the much better wifi coverage for my family.

The dropped packets now compared to before on an average day...
