Hi folks,

As the title says really, I'm wanting to upgrade from my old card as its really had its day but I'd like to get bang for buck - can anyone make any suggestions as to what is out there right now as I'm not in the loop of these things nowadays.

Regards
Scotty

I would highly recommend upping the budget a bit and getting a 970 and selling the game code for £20. That would be around £240 and blitzes pretty much everything at 1080p.

ok 970 at over budget and can do that but what is the next card down the list so I can see the difference - remembering bang for buck.

Really under £250 the bang for buck is all AMD. I have seen 770s go as low as £185 on here and they seem to hold up well on the newest games. Otherwise really you're looking at a secondhand 680 or a wait for the 960.

770 ok gaming with dialling the settings down, 970 will play at least high to extreme settings@1080p.

1 x GALAX GeForce GTX 970 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - OEM (97NPH6DT6XTZ) £247.99

-£20 selling the game on brings it in £28 over budget which gets you about +40% performance and double the vram over a 770, you really want to stretch that little bit extra for a much better experience with newer features and will see you through a good few years longer than a 770 if you don't upgrade much.

You never mentioned AMD-maybe you just don't like/prefer not to/no experience/awful experience with them, that's fine but it's worth a peek behind the spoiler...

Red teams 290 Powercolor PCS+/XFX DD have got to be worth a mention as it is quite simply the bbfb king by a country mile-after selling on the 4 titles comes in at ~£175 for the PCS+ or ~£165 XFX DD:eek:, fully guaranteed and smashes the 770's back doors in, it's a bit slower than the 970 but still fantastic gaming with high to extreme settings@1080p with Mantle and True Audio.

You could just sell a couple of titles and keep the other 2 and still have change left from £200 with 2 good games to play with
