Sub £400 Spec please

Need to help a mate with a spec for new pc.

no serious gaming, maybe a gtx460 or slightly lower, no hdd.

He requested 8GB Ram and an i5 if possible.

yes, will need os. Dont need KB, mouse, Screen.

My mate just decided to let me know what his current pc spec is.

It is an acer aspire m3910 with 3gb ram and an i3 i think, claims to have 1GB intel graphics. As long as the upgrade is better than this, it would be good. should be able to take other stuff from that pc too.

Ok thanks, i really need to get a closer look at his PC in order to properly help him. Thanks for everybody's help.

Only problem is that it has a warranty sticker on the back. 1 month warranty left. He wants to sell it with that 1 month warranty, but i think ripping it or upgrading would be much better right?

problem is, he is planning to take the HDD out to use in new PC. I think upgrading would be best, selling just wouldn't work out as i dont think you would get much fo it anyway?
