Hi All,

Finally going to bite the bullet and upgrade from my Q9650 @4ghz to something newer and need some advise please.

I allready have an Dual X R9 280 graphics card so that should keep me running for a while, and i have a 650W corsair PSU Im hoping should be good enough.

I don't need SSD's or HDD's or OS etc so whats a good Mobo/CPU+Cooler/Ram combo at the moment?
Preferably leaving enough for a new case as well.

Im way out of touch with overclocking and chipsets etc.

I mainly game and do some occasional 1080P video rendering.

TIA for any pointers.

Anything more powerful than an i5-K (Haswell/Devil's Canyon/Skylake) won't give you better performance in gaming. An i7/i7-K would render faster, especially X99 platform.

A relative newcomer to the case market is Phanteks, but they've already taken it by storm. So have a look at their cases, among others (Corsair/NZXT etc).

Anything higher than 2400MHz RAM brings few benefits other than benchmarks. So don't spend over the top for faster RAM.

Cooler will depend on case choice and whether you want liquid AIO or air.

The new website has a BBCode button in your Basket page, below the component list. You can press that and copy the output and then paste here to show your spec to others so they can check/make suggestions.
