m8 seriously, OTT :eek: especially the PSU, GFX, HD, RAM, HSF, etc (or are you secretly building yourself one/upgrading yours?). To save you the trouble, seriously consider buying an of the shelf rig, i.e. something you've not build yourself or even maybe a laptop? For your budget you can get a very nice/good one.

If not then maybe this...
  • AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.80GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail (CP-162-AM) £53.95 - Socket 939 & 754 are dead, hail Socket AM2;
  • Asus M2NPV-VM Micro ATX (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-144-AS) £54.95 - OnBoard GeForce6 GPU;
  • Crucial 1GB (2x512MB) DDR2 PC2-4200C4 Dual Channel Kit (CT2KIT6464AA53E) (MY-081-CR) £58.95;
  • Samsung SpinPoint P HD080HJ 80GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-023-SA) £26.95;
  • NEC ND4570 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-030-NE) £21.95 - Burns CDs @ 48x! On my BenQ DW1650 (same speed) that takes around 2 mins;
  • Antec NSK4400 Mini Tower Case - 380W SmartPower PSU (CA-052-AN) £34.95 - PSU included more than enough, see here;
  • Logitech Cordless Optical Desktop Rechargeable Black/Silver - OEM (KB-058-LG) £29.95 - Rechargeable;

I have specced it to be as quiet as possible, seasonic PSU, zalman fans and cpu cooler. You get a better monitor, just as much RAM, a fast dvd/cd re-writer that uses S-ata so less cable clutter and the same CPU.

Just curious, but what does she do, video editing? Because what I spec'd is a very powerful PC, unless playing games (& for that all you need is a GFX) or doing some serious video or music production :confused:

I meant if anything goes wrong, breaks down, etc you don't get the full blame. Built a PC for my sister, when anything minutely wrong happens she's quickly on the phone blasting me down :(

m8, drop the Hiper its OTT & have been failing here & there. Also, get her a better looking/etc monitor - she's gonna be staring at it more than anything else :)
