I suppose the basic question is whether it's possible to mix-n-match any Samsung wireless sub with any suitably-equipped Samsung sound bar. Has anyone got a definitive answer on this?
Ordinarily, BT pairing involves passwords. But pairing wireless subs doesn't. So, does that mean that the soundbar and sub are free to pair with anything - and if so, what stops the scenario of an accidental pairing to the guys sub/soundbar in the flat above? - or are they working from a limited range of acceptable BT passwords? If that's the case, then will a sub from a different model work?
Once that bridge is crossed, there's then the question of the crossover frequency. This isn't adjustable, so if pairing a sub that isn't specified as the partner device, will the different one blend properly?
I suspect that it will be possible to pair to dissimilar Samsung models, but whether the blend point works is something I think you'll have to such and see.
ETA:
To pair a sub from a different Samsung sound bar: Turn off the sound bar, plug in the subwoofer, stick a paper-clip into the “ID Set” hole on the subwoofer and hold for five seconds, then press the mute button on the soundbar remote for five seconds, then power up the sound bar.
