It sounds as if you havent set up the gain level on the amp properly.

You need to make sure your subs are running through the LPF (low pass filter) on the amp. I'm guessing your amp is 4 channel so i would advise you to use 2 channels per sub.
Once you've done that you can set up the gain levels:

1. turn gain level to minimum on amp and any other 'bass boost' settings on headunit off.
2. set the volume on the headunit to roughly 75% of the maximum volume it can go to
3. slowly increase the gain level up on amp until you can hear the subs distorting
4. turn the gain down by about a 1mm so it doesnt distort if you are playing music at higher than 75%
5. tweak high and mids on headunit till you have good, balanced sound system

Just a few more questions though.
I want to set the amp up right so can someone explain what these are on the amp.
1. crossovermode with options for
Full
Lp
Hp
2.Bass Boost
3.Low Pass
4.High Pass
5.Level
can anyone help me out with what the above do,and the right way to set thenm up.

Thanks

For a sub you will want to select LPF (low pass filter).
Level will be the gain level on the amp so you'll need to set up the gain as i mentioned above.

Set the bass boost off on the amp. It will make the sub sound crap if you switch it on.

did you even look at talkaudio?

dont be datf! lol

just that you would find more audio advice on there that here.

no offence to the audio experts here (as there is a few) but there are way more on that site.

i will say though, they are quite slow to reply sometimes on that site.

I'm sure with a bit of searching and some posts you'll find all you need.
