Recently bought an Xbox S, purchased an Ultimate Game Pass and with that downloaded a few games. Can I continue to play the installed games, not MP, if I don’t renew the subscription?
The game I’m mainly referring to is Hogwarts Legacy.

Don't pay full price; pickup the discounted codes for 3/6/12 months, and go that way. If you can get it for 10-15 a month, and there's enough stuff on there that interests you; it can be a fantastic deal, but the new £20+ official price is a bit too steep.

What is the correct procedure? Allow existing sub to expire then purchase, or purchase and imstall before existing sub expires?

Also, Can I purchase a Game Pass for the Xbox One/PC, or does it have to be for S/X?

My daughter just started playing Hogwarts Legacy and it's coinciding with my Game Pass Ultimate sub coming to an end.

I thought it would be worth pointing out I believe this game is available on the cheaper tier "Game Pass Premium"

Good to know. Thanks

Yeah I agree (for me) it is no longer value for money at all
You are far from alone! Granted it’s a pretty small sample size but there are plenty on here, me included, who stacked it over a few years when it was cheap but are now finding it’s just neither cheap nor good value even before the recent price hike. Would be interesting to know what the customer retention figures are since the 2:1 deal ended but I doubt they would publish them. You’d think it would be a doomed business model if it was a standalone company, would have went broke a long time ago.

Last night i was looking through my Ultimate Game Pass games i have installed and thinking it going to most likely work out far cheaper just to buy the ones i really want when on offer
As 12 months of Ultimate Game Pass would now cost me £276 which is crazy

Exactly why if you like the service, but not the price, its worth stacking up the 3 years worth using codes. I wouldn't pay £23 a month, but I do think 10-15 is worth it, and at least a few weeks ago codes could be had for full Gamepass Ultimate, costing around £11 a month equivalent for a year, stack the maximum allowed 3 (36 months) of them, and you're laughing, as long as you're playing the equivalent of at least 1/2 games a month on average. (or more premium games); as you've essentially paid for around a year and a half at the new rate, for a full 36months.

For older games, not so worth it, but if you're playing big new releases in the first few months of launch, or ones that don't drop, they're often considerably more than that £10-15...
