Subtle differences between RTM and Retail?

I know most will say RTM and what arrives in your retail box are identical (build numbers certainly are) but I've noticed some subtle differences.

When the installation is coming to an end it performs the system performance check. With the same hardware this seems twice as fast in retail x64 as it did only two weeks ago when I installed x64 RTM.

The desktop icons, noticibly Recycle Bin, seems more polished and "finished" compared to the icons in RTM.

When setting up your speakers it gives you the option to assign different icons, set of speakers, headphones, phone and so on but in retail I could swear there are a few extra icons to choose from that wasn't there before.

Now either I've just missed all this in RTM or they've slightly tinkered with it. Anyone else noticed anything?

I think you're dreaming. They're identical.

Some of the changes can be attributed to better/more featured drivers though.

The icons you mention are on my MSDN RTM downloaded copy, so doesn't sound like a change there.

I may well be dreaming hence I "asked" rather than "stated" regarding the possible differances.

That asside there does seem to be a growing number of people reporting slight differances between RTM and retail.

One quick question though.. How can you say "The icons you mention are on my MSDN RTM downloaded copy" when I didn't actually state which icons I believed had been added??

I'll take some screenshots in the morning for comparison.

If I'm mistaken then fair enough and it's obviously me merely getting old but I could swaer there's some additions. Hopefully through a comparison we can find out.

Although I think it's unlikely that the RTM code has been changed, I've used both the RTM and consumer versions and it does feel nippier and I don't think it's my imagination.

Cheers for your comment, I'm glad someone else seems to think there's aslight differance.

I knew most people would take the easy option and imediately dismiss my comments as being negative seems to be the norm these days with most people.
