Subwoofer advice

ok, im after a nice big subwoofer.

ive looked on ebay, and found several down-fire subs but im unsure as how to hook them up to my pc.

How would i go about connecting this? what cables etc are needed?

hope you can help, i havent dealt with any speakers more advanced then desktop pc setups.

if you have a 5.1 sound card then just buy a 3.5mm to 2 rca connector cable, figure out which is the subwoofer out and connect it to the line in on that subwoofer, what speakers will it be going with?
