Subwoofer behind seating area, ok?

Its more ideal for my sub to be behind me, is that OK?

I have my subwoofer behind my sofa, i have tried other places and it didnt sound great. Normally it should be placed in front near the front speakers but i dont have space so decided to put it behind

Mine sits to the side of my sofa but in line with the back wall and it works great.

Mine is next to the settee.

Always thought you could plonk it anywhere due to the lower frequencies being less directional.

Depends on who you ask

A sub can technically work from anywhere...however its whether or not it'll be used to its maximum potential. Ultimately, it'll 'thump' wherever you put it.

i would like love to buy one, to accompany my monitor audio system, but worried that in these new houses. It could upset the neighbours.
