Subwoofer recommendations please

My ancient sub has died so I'm looking to replace.
Running a Yamaha Rx-A840 with 5 Acoustics speakers with PS3, Virgin box,Apple TV, Raspberry Pi XBMC and a Pro-Ject TT.
Play some music but watch quite few movies, budget £200 but will go a bit higher.

I would prefer to buy on the High Street, ideas most welcome.

Let us know what you think. Mine took abit of fettling to get right but it sounds good to my ears now.

Someone else said this to me, the inference being that it was no cakewalk setting it up.
I do know that subs take a while to settle in though.
