I'm putting some ice into my car thats been up in the loft for a few years and just want to check the subwoofer is wired correctly.
I'll include a diagram but basically theres 2 pairs of contacts on the amp and I'm only running it off one channel of my amp.
At the moment it has a wired soldered from one negative contact to the other positive one and then the other positive and negative going to the amp.
Does this sound right?

soldered?

anyway, running in that config will half the impedance of the sub. ie if its rated @ 4omh on each voice coil, running like that will present a 2ohm load. As long as your amp is able to drive that load, it'll be fine:)

no not really, its just a silly way to do it because that limits your flexiblity in wiring options. its far easier just to wire a short piece of speaker wire from one terminal to the other. That way you can just take it off if you want to change the config:)

Yup like he said that's fine. What model amplifier is driving the sub if I may ask? And what kind of sub?

Its fairly old although it did get good reviews when it came out.

The amp is as Pro-Plus PPA-4200 400 watts (just noticed it says 2-ohm stable).

The subby is a 12" Kenwood KFC-W112 Peak power 400 watts in a custom built ported enclosure

I'm also looking at putting in some pioneer component speakers in the front doors if they fit, these will be run off the other channel of the amp.

Just bought a Pioneer DEH-4800mp and this will run the standard rear car speakers with 2 channels spare.
