Success playing steam keyboard & mouse games with pad?

Controller support in steam distributed games has improved so much since the last time started digging through my library, there are those that are marked keyboard and mouse specifically though.

I'm not talking things like counter strike etc. I'm a fan of a lot of the frogwares games, have a backlog of the earlier Sherlock Holmes stuff and it'd be great to play these on a pad in living room comfort.

1) Has anyone been successful in doing so with similar games?

2) Are there any utilities that help with these efforts to make things playable?

Steam controller/deck should be able to handle this sort of thing pretty well once you get used to using the touchpads

It depends on the game and how many mapped inputs they need but I’ve had success playing some of these with an XB1 controller using the steam big picture mode button remapping too
