Since building my new rig i have had sudden fps drops in games for no reason wil be hetting a decent 30 fps or so in crysis for example then will suddenly go down to like 9 fps then go back up a second later. when searching around on the net "dodgy power supply" kept popping up with people with similar issues.
i did have a problem with power first off which meant the pc was really unstable with the 4 pin cpu connector upon using the 8 pin instead it seemed to solve the issue but maybe i still have a minor power problem i found it a bit strange it was so unstable with the 4 pin cpu connector as i have read you don't need 8 pin unless you are overclocking.. - speedfan shows my +12vrail at 11.40 i read this was bare minimum for a stable system. it does not seem to fluctuate under load.
the power supply is a coolermaster realpower m850
rest of specs are
6 gb 1600 mhz corsair ram
core i7 920
asus p6t deluxe mobo
nvidia gtx 280
vista ultimate 64 bit - reinstalled today from 32 bit didnt solve issue.
any help or others experience will be gratefull - thanks
