Afternoon all,

Got a sudden issue with my 1070. I've had it over a year and never had any issues until recently... I wonder if it is connected to a driver update. I have never needed to use VSync previously.. and enabling it now seems to make no difference. I've attached a video to illustrate the issue (filmed with a phone so excuse quality :p)

Any ideas? :(

Are you running any OC on the GPU.

Do you get this problem in other games.

I thought not, but I've just checked the ASUS GPU Tweak software that came with the card... and yes it was set to an auto-OC mode and has been for some time. I've disabled this and will report back :)

Yup either unstable OC or the GPU is on its way out - that kind of artefacting doesn't normally arise due to a driver/game update (though not completely impossible) - it is also possible - though usually accompanied by black rectangles for stuff like that to happen with display port if the signal is being corrupted for some reason i.e. faulty cable or a cable that is too long for the bandwidth required.

Unfortunately, this still seems to be happening. Albeit less severely... I have swapped over the DP cable but no difference. I should add that this is happening in multiple different games... seems to be much more severe in AC Origins than Battlefield 1 for example though. :(

Yes, sorry to say that it's dying. Definitely time to send it back.

Have sent a webnote to OcUK. The card was part of a system I bought from them in August 16, the original 1070 died within 3 weeks :D so this will be my 3rd card when it is replaced! Fingers crossed....

I wonder if there is a deeper problem, a fault with the PSU or something that is killing the cards? Anyway, good luck.

The first card was faulty from the off, it had Micron memory which was a widespread problem in a lot of 1070s last year. As it happens this card also has Micron memory, but has had a firmware update that supposedly fixes the issue.... Shall see what OcUK say.

Didn't know about the Micron issue, even so I imagine it will all be covered by a warranty so hopefully it will get sorted soon for you.
