Sudden loss of sound

For some reason my vista 64 system has suddenly stopped playing audio, video's in wmp and vlc play with no sound whilst audio programs such as itunes and audacity won't even play at all.

I haven't got a clue whats caused it as everything was working fine earlier today.

The only sound I can get out is when I do a speaker test in the creative console.

Please help

Updated the soundcard drivers and it's working now, can't understand it though.

i had the same prob with vista64 had to uninstall the drivers and reinstall not had a problem since

Well it's happened again (exactly the same symptoms) they only problem is the soundcard drivers I updated to last time are still the latest.

I've tried unistalling/re-installing them but that's not work and if I try system restore it says not all files have been restored.

One other thing, last night I put it in sleep mode but this morning it was back on again, I thought it might have done an update overnight but there weren't any messages saying so.

But seriously though, it's still most likely a driver issue if nothing else has happened. Just reinstall.

Thats the thing though, I do get the test sound but itunes and youtube won't even try to play, wmp does play but I get no sound. I've just tried reinstalling again but it's still not working.

Fixed it again, the default playback device had changed from the soundblaster to my guitarport.
