I know my MacBook has the Sudden Motion Sensor business to try and protect the HDD if the laptop is thrown from a motorbike.

If I upgrade the HDD, do I need to buy a model which has anti-shock features built-in in order to keep using the SMS? Or is the whole point of the SMS that there is no need for the drive to have its own built-in anti-shock features?

Basically, in the new Seagate 7200.2 range, I'm trying to decide between the AS and ASG models
