Sudden reboot under moderate load - underpowered PSU?

I have Super Flower Golden Silent 500W PSU which is probably not powerful enough for my system (3900x, RX5700, rated 480W ish on most calculators), however it's supposedly a very efficient/high quality power supply and has been absolutely fine in demanding games, so I was hoping to leave upgrading until the prices fall a bit after covid, as I want total silence and fanless PSUs are very expensive at the moment.

A couple of times recently however the system has started to suddenly reboot - no BSOD, just a black screen like I'd pressed the reset button - in fairly undemanding tasks. Event viewer shows a kernel power error 41. I've run memtest and no problems found.

The easy answer would be to replace the PSU, but it this was issue why would it be happening during moderate use and not in demanding games? Just want to check as I don't want to spend hundreds replacing the PSU only to find it's something else, I'm suspicious of the GPU as I've heard RX5700s have had issue with black screen and reboots. Any advice appreciated.

That power error is simply Windows logging that it wasn't powered down correctly I believe, not necessarily indicative of a PSU issue just in case that's what you were thinking.

Are you running any overclocks, including RAM at a faster speed than is officially supported by motherboard?

No overclocks at all, yes I've read that the error doesn't really say much useful. If I know for sure it's the PSU I'll replace it but it seems odd for it not to happen under load.

Getting the feeling from another forum that this could be related to Ryzen/RAM issues, apparently running XMP set to 3200mhz on 3200mhz memory can lead to crashes, which seems crazy. I'm sure having a more powerful PSU wouldn't hurt but I don't know if that's what's causing this problem.
