Sudden shutdown - VMware player & Linux guest

Not seeing much via Google, just wanted to see if anyone has come across a similar thing.

I have VMware Player running a Linux MX guest.

Host system is AMD 5600x on Gigabyte B550 mobo.

90% of the time I'll start the VM, it will run normally and shutdown after without issue.

Twice now however, during boot of the Linux guest, the host PC has simply turned off. Not crash/BSOD, just switched off with the usual "click" sound the PSU makes as it turns off (at least I assume it's the PSU, haha, could be something else).

Nothing in Event Viewer at all, except on next boot you get the usual "system appears to have shut down unexpectedly". So this looks like a hardware failsafe, maybe?

I must admit I've never encountered this in any other PC over the years. Seen tons of BSOD (etc), never had a sudden hardware power off.

The PC handles hours of Borderlands 3 without grumbling, so I don't want to point the finger at overheating.
