Sudden, unexpected white screen

Hi, I'd be grateful for advice. My PC was running fine all day. Suddenly I got a white screen (LCD DVI). I could not reboot. When I tried the screen came up solid green or blue. I reset the CMOS but no joy. I switched around the DDR but I was still unable to boot.

I then attached a VGA mon to the 2nd vid output and got a 'missing OS' message. When I attached the VGA mon to the 1st video output there was no signal. This points to video card failure I suppose. But why the missing OS message? What to do before rushing out to buy a new video card?

Thanks

John

I'd try going into safe mode and checking event log and driver properties in manager.
you could have had an update and it's thrown baby water and pram out?
Try previous known succesful boot up.in windows can't remember name but comes up i think when press F8? when booting up. trying checking in bios before aswell to see if anythings not correct before you try going into windows.

Thanks. It was the monitor - a professional version which cost me mega bucks 14 months ago. It is still under guarantee so they ought to either fix it or replace. My old VGA monitor would not run on the 1st video output because resolution was too high. All running perfectly now with old monitor. Missing OS message was spurious. Will post again with update on LaCie support.

First class, no quibble support from LaCie. A new professional monitor (£600) arrived in N. Ireland from France in 5 days. Problem solved.
