had my gmail for well over a year now and it's previously been very good at filtering out the spam email automatically. However, in the past few days i've been getting about 6 or 7 junk emails going directly into my inbox per day. Anyone experiencing anything similar? Seems odd.

Mine's exactly the same, I got fed up of deleting it/marking as spam so I opened an account with gmx.com. It's been pretty good so far, IMAP and it works on my iPhone.

Spammers have found a away around the filters, just as they do every now and then. Eventually they will figure out how to filter it again, and the spam will disappear for awhile. It's a cycle.

Where does all the spam emails come from anyway?

And isn't there something in place to stop it at the source?

someone given out your email Addy? Google catches 99.999% of mine, of 217 Spam in the last 2 weeks none got through :) and just deleted them and non was mail i wanted. I Cant grumble @that :D
most seem to think I'm a gay diabetic small penis-ed transsexual with erectile dysfunction that needs a Rolex watch because my IP and bank account have been suspened due to fraudulant activity

Yes I am too :(

It's caught pretty much every bit of spam for years, but I'm getting a few a day at the moment.

some russian spammer was murdered a few years ago iirc, and spam levels dropped hugely

sometimes I wish emails cost 1p each to send, this would solve spam problems (although hard to implement now :p )

I have the same problem, a couple days ago 7 spams actually got into my inbox. My spam folder has a permanent population of about 3500 spam emails. 99.99% from America.

Sophos have had to relax some of their rules re: spam recently I think (the spam system is made by Sophos and not Google).

I'm getting a fair few hundreds spam mails a day now, and around 20+ go through into my inbox.

It's got so mad I've had to create a new email address =/
