suddenly got coil whine from both GPU and PSU

hello.

i bought a new pc in june and for the last few days ive noticed coil whine coming from my system.

up until now there was no coil whine what so ever.

thought it was coming from just the PSU but after doing an investiagtion, i noticed it comes from both the PSU and GPU. exact same tone from both, or so it seems.

gpu is a GB 980 ti G1 and the PSU is a Corsair AX760i


could it be the PSU is experiencing coil whine and given the fact its deleivering power to the GPU, causing the GPU to whine aswell???

annoying that its started to occur.

It could be either or both, one being amplified by the other. Been a few reports of high end cards suffering from coil whine running Corsair Psu's, more so the budget end.

tricky to resolve when its coming from both.

had the PC for 2 months and no coil whine atall. was bliss in comparison to what im getting now.

no unfortunately not.

Using the same card here with an XFX 750 PRO (made by Seasonic from what I have read). I have no whine at all.

You could try reseating the power cables.

Is the whine constant or only with some high frames per second games?

higher the framerate, the higher the tone.

alt-tabbed out of dying light now and its really distracting. i play with headphones on so no issue in game.

strange as up until last couple of days there was no coil whine what so ever.

quite cruel really lol

Try looping Heaven for a few hours, it's been known to settle coil whine down in some cases.
