Something very strange happened the other day. I was having sound card issues, so I removed it but ended up using it again anyway - it was after booting the first time since then that the trouble started happened. It's like my PC decided to reset it's settings for a bunch of programs. In no particular order, here are some of the symptoms:

  • All of my internet logins have been forgotten
  • Steam forgot where it's windows go and chat doesn't have timestaps anymore
  • Firefox won't remember my tabs when I close it
  • Links don't turn purple after I click on them
  • I have to allow Silverlight every time I use Netflix
  • It likes to do CHKDSK before it boots sometimes

It's very strange and I don't like it. Any ideas on what actually happened? or causes or solutions for any of the above?

If it's Windows 8 you definitely cant miss the fact if it logged you in with a temp profile, you get a tray message box that pops up to tell you so that stays on the screen an age

I'm using Windows 7.

Cmd says C:\Users\Max> (that's me).

I'm not too worried about it - most of it will probably go away if I reinstall Firefox. It's the links not turning purple thing that really weirds me out.
